The extension to the unit will double the number of women accessing breast screening services

Speller Metcalfe has been appointed to carry out expansion work at the breast unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The contractor will lead the £1.84m improvement programme, which will enable the hospital to screen twice as many women.

Designed by Pinnegar Hayward Architects, the single-storey extension will also help the hospital to address the backlog that has built up during the COVID-19 pandemic.

And it will bring state-of-the-art breast imaging technology to the trust.

Construction work is expected to be completed this autumn.
