Virtual Dementia Tour
Walking in their shoes

Architects, interior designers, care home operators and hospital managers can now put themselves in the shoes of people with dementia.

The newly-launched Virtual Dementia Tour (VDT) is medically and scientifically proven to be the closest a person with a healthy brain can get to an experience of what having dementia might be like.

It enables users to experience real-life scenarios, including the physical and mental challenges, those with dementia face.

The simulation is supplied by Australian-based aged care provider, Churches of Christ Care.

A spokesman said, “It’s a true head-to-toe experience and there is an immediate and lasting change of perception. This supports our aim of building an environment that continually strives to understand, accept and respond positively to people with dementia and their families. Our priority is to create settings where we can better care for each other.”

Over two million people across 20 countries have already experienced the tour.
