Tilbury Douglas ‘tops out’ new £10m unit at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital

Work on cathether labs reaches key milestone

Work on the refurbishment and rebuild of catheter laboratories at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital has reached a climax, with construction workers ‘topping out’ on the £10m project.

Tilbury Douglas has reached the key stage of construction of a new building and the refurbishment of existing laboratories and consultation rooms on the site.

The hospital provides specialist services in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, respiratory medicine, and diagnostic imaging, serving a catchment area of 2.8 million people across Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales, and the Isle of Man.

The work is being delivered in three stages in a live environment and is expected to completed by May 2023.

It follows Tilbury Douglas’s recent handing over of a new neonatal unit to Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust following a major refurbishment and extension of the existing facility to create the largest unit of its kind in the UK.
