Project blazes a trail

The installation of Mobile Deconstruction Units (MDUs) in Newcastle has led to recognition from sustainability leaders, with two award successes to date.

Medical gas supplier, BPR Medical’s work with Medclair to trial MDUs for Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was presented with the Innovation Award at the Year’s Sustainability Partnership Awards.

The programme has also been shortlisted in the sustainability achievement category at the 2023 HSJ Partnership Awards.

Both accolades recognise the impact of the project in helping the NHS to reach its net zero goals.

The winners of the HSJ Partnership Awards will be announced on 23 March next year, with the Newcastle scheme selected based on its diligence, ambition, and the positive impact the project has had on practitioners, patients, and the environment.
