Learn 2 Live will support young people with mental health problems
Learn 2 Live is a pioneering new residential clinic offering support and treatment for young people with mental ill health and associated high-risk behaviours.
Based on a leafy 20-acre campus in rural Hampshire, and scheduled to open this summer, Learn 2 Live will provide a 10-week residential programme for children aged 14-18, offering comprehensive treatment for teens and support for their families.
Founded by ex-principal of Eaton House Group of Schools, Luchie Cawood, Learn 2 Live has been a labour of love.
Having seen a close teenage family member struggle with mental ill health, Cawood became aware of the widening gap between the need and supply of mental health support services available in the UK compared to other countries.
In the four years between January 2018 and December 2021, the number of open referrals for children and young people mental health services increased by 221%.
Happy and healthy
And Cawood’s personal experience of this situation provided the inspiration for Learn 2 Live; to ensure that other families can more easily find the support they need and learn to live healthier and happier lives.
In the run-up to opening this summer, Learn 2 Live is building a highly-qualified and experienced multi-disciplinary team to help ensure a positive outcome for the young people in their care, including psychiatrists, psychologists, family therapists, eating disorder therapists, addiction therapists, youth coaches, dieticians, sports coaches, and more.
I sincerely believe that Learn 2 Live will make a life-changing difference to the teens in our care and their families, and that our treatment programme will provide the turning point they’ve been looking for
Working together, this team will build collaborative, personalised treatment plans for each patient to build strength, confidence, and resilience from within.
The programme will incorporate group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy sessions, with two dedicated coaches all the way through.
Natural beauty
Ultimately the programme aims to finish with a successful transition and post-treatment discharge.
Learn 2 Live will treat a broad range of conditions including anxiety and panic disorders, grief and loss, mood disorders, OCD, PTSD, and Emerging Personality Disorder – all from a state-of-the-art facility located on a rural campus, carefully chosen for its natural beauty and peace to cultivate transformation and healing.
Cawood, said: “Learn 2 Live was born from my own family’s experiences and trying to get help for our child at a time of serious crisis.
“I wanted to ensure that families facing challenges like those we experienced have somewhere to turn and a team of compassionate experts to provide support.
“It is a sad fact that 75% of lifetime mental illnesses are experienced for the first time before the age of 20 and I sincerely believe that Learn 2 Live will make a life-changing difference to the teens in our care and their families, and that our treatment programme will provide the turning point they’ve been looking for.”
