New appointments for Elanic Medical

Scottish private healthcare business Elanic Medical has announced a trio of appointments to its senior leadership team, including the country’s former national clinical director.

Professor Jason Leitch, who stepped down from his government role at the end of April, has joined as a non-executive director. In his new role, he will provide robust governance support, helping to ensure patient safety and quality.

Kristian Campbell, who has 20 years of leadership experience in private healthcare and hospitality, becomes managing director, and Michael Logue, who has spent the last 11 years in various senior roles within one of the UK’s largest private healthcare providers, is director of Strategy & Operational Excellence.

In addition, Ashleigh Jolly has been promoted to the senior team as director of Clinical Services. Ashleigh has worked for Elanic for over 10 years and has been integral to its growth with a strong focus on patient care, safety and clinical governance.

Together, they will drive forward the completion and launch of Elanic Medical’s new purpose-built 15,000 sqft hospital in Glasgow city centre.

Elanic Hospital Glasgow is located above the company’s existing surgical clinic, founded more than 10 years ago, on Bath Street. The new facility will offer a range of elective treatments and surgeries including orthopaedic and bariatric procedures, to self-paying and private medical insured patients from across Scotland and the North of England, who are seeking timely treatment.

According to statistics released by Public Health Scotland, at the end of last year more than 7,000 patients across Scotland had waited more than two years for their treatments while almost 18,000 had waited more than 18 months[1].

The hospital features a state-of-the-art ultra clean airflow operating theatre and a day surgery theatre, equipped with the industry’s most advanced technology, and complemented by 12 recovery bays. For patients who require overnight care, there are air conditioned, ensuite bedrooms including a specialist enhanced care dependency bedroom.

Vivek Sivarajan, a leading plastic surgeon and medical director, Elanic Group, said:

'We’re proud to have attracted a high quality and distinguished leadership team to progress our new cutting-edge hospital. They are testament to the bespoke, patient-focused care we will provide.

'Our industry-leading equipment will enable us to treat a wide range of people, from those seeking immediate treatment to relieve chronic pain to those whose livelihoods depend on their fitness to work.

'Being in the city centre will also allow people to fit in appointments around their working lives, saving them from taking time off. For those who require overnight stays our beautifully designed, five-star ensuite bedrooms will allow patients to rest and recover in comfort.

'We’ve had an incredibly positive response from all those who have visited the new premises and we can’t wait to open our doors to our first patients.'

The team expects to treat up to 60 patients weekly at the hospital with a further 12 patients treated weekly at the cosmetic surgery clinic on the ground floor.

Elanic will provide a higher than average nurse to patient ratio overnight so patients don’t need to wait for care.

The hospital opens in late summer and consultations are now available at www.elanicmedical.co.uk.
