Plans for Jersey’s new £710 million acute hospital at Overdale have received unanimous approval from the Island’s planning committee.
Designed as a green, patient-focused campus, the hospital will provide over 200 overnight beds and is set within a dramatic 14.3ha landscape overlooking St Helier and St Aubin’s Bay. LDA Design is leading the landscape architecture, with a strategy focused on enhancing local biodiversity, including the restoration of Le Val André’s ancient woodland.
The design incorporates extensive green roofs, internal courtyards, and woodland-inspired therapy gardens, drawing on research linking nature to patient recovery. The public realm will feature Jersey granite, mature pines, and intuitive paths for walking and cycling.
The project will deliver a 31% Biodiversity Net Gain and improve connectivity with surrounding areas. Construction is due to start this year, with completion expected in 2028.
