The centre will bring primary and community care services together under one roof

A new integrated health and wellbeing centre is set to open in Wirral after construction work on the project was recently completed.

Eric Wright Construction has delivered the multi-million pound Marine Lake Health and Wellbeing Centre, just 12 months after work started on site.

Working in partnership with Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (WCHC), Marine Lake and Estuary Medical Practice, and Age UK Wirral; the facility brings together primary and community care services as well as improving access to specialist teams.

The 2,037sq m centre spans three floors and is an important investment in community-based healthcare.

There is also a new community space led by Age UK Wirral, including a café.

To have delivered this superb facility in little over 12 months is testament to the high level of collaboration and hard work across entire project team

A key feature of the centre is the creation of a community wellbeing garden which features a range of plants and places for local people to grow their own vegetables, as well as a multiple-use space for relaxing or use as an outdoor classroom for local primary school pupils.

Nick Galvin, project manager for Eric Wright Construction, said: “To have delivered this superb facility in little over 12 months is testament to the high level of collaboration and hard work across entire project team.

“It was quite a challenging site due to the confined space and proximity to residential properties, but we’re really proud to see Marine Lake open and functioning so soon after starting work.”

Michael Brown, chairman of WCHC, added: “It is fantastic to see Marine Lake Health and Wellbeing Centre now open, so soon after Eric Wright Construction started on site.

“This represents a fundamental investment in local health and care and will transform how people receive care closer to home.

“It marks a new chapter for the people of West Kirby and will significantly improve the way in which services are delivered.”

The project team also included Gilling Dod Architects; Bradshaw, Gass & Hope Structural Engineers; West Lancashire Group; Hoare Lea Fire Engineers; and Ball & Berry Building Control.
