Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust has appointed a contractor to deliver a £3m improvement project as part of a major upgrade of services across the trust.

Tilbury Douglas has been contracted to deliver the £3m Crown Street Improvement project at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

The work follows the announcement, in late 2020, that the trust had been successful in securing £6.5m of capital financing to address some of its most-pressing clinical challenges.

And the Crown Street Enhancements Programme was established to deliver a number of exciting projects designed to improve safety, as well as the experience of patients and staff at the hospital.

Tilbury Douglas will oversee the creation of a modernised ground-floor unit which will provide a dedicated imaging and colposcopy department.

The project started on site last week and is due to complete in May.

It follows on from the completion of the new second-floor fetal medicine unit.

The appointment comes after the firm’s successful completion of Liverpool Women’s neonatal unit last year.

And this new project will be led by the same design team – comprising Gilling Dod Architects, Hoare Lea, and Sutcliffes.

Phil Shaw, divisional director for the North West at Tilbury Douglas, said: “Having worked closely with Liverpool Women’s Hospital for many years now, we are delighted to have been appointed to deliver this new unit that will provide a specialist national health service for women and their babies.”
